Whilst it was a good film to watch, it is left dealing with the concequences of the story of the previous film, with the death of Snoke JJ Abrams seems to have been forced to bring back Palpatine, and it does come across as forced, there is no explanation to how he survived, or how the wider public in the film found out.
Whilst the film did pick up from the end it mirrored The Return of The Jedi. Had Abrams been the director for the whole trilogy, or had they planned and alluded to the return of Palpatine from the start the film would work much better.
The actors and acting did a brilliant job, but they and the film suffer from the poor story and writing of episode 8. The film in my view could have explored the force ghosts, along with the force as a whole, in greater detail, which would solve some of the gaps the film has.
Overall an enjoyable film but suffers due to the previous film and is forced to follow through the flawed story of the last jedi.
I love star wars but this film is forced to try and repair the damage the previous film caused, and cannont do that due to the magnitide of the changes and debatably the mistakes with the writing of the last film.
