A kind of movie you don't like to see for a second time. Heartbreaking ending along with all the suffering that Selma endures made me think of the helpless people around us, specially the immigrants and single mothers who are abused and taken advantage of systematically.
Selma has two dreams in her mind, to prevent her son form a genetic syndrom which will blind him soon and to become a hollywood musicale singer. To do so, she even turns down dating his coworker just to make sure that she puts away enough money for her son's eye surgical operation.
Björk acting is sheer brilliant and touching. Furthermore, shooting style (handheld camera) made the story so believable.
If I have to name my top three saddest movies of all time, Dancer in the Dark would be one of them. If you are emotinal and easily moved by movies, then you may forget about watching it because you will find yourself sad and depressed for at least a week.
