Another attempt at an "Indian family" show, this time by NRIs or American-born Indians who likely haven’t spent much time in India, yet aim to profit from stereotypes. The series is filled with Hindu traditions being mocked, a strong emphasis on Christianity, and selective, half-baked interpretations of Hindu texts.
For instance, Mahesh describes Eklavya as the greatest archer and says Dronacharya demanded his thumb as a sacrifice due to his caste—a gross oversimplification. The character Bhanu, desperate to fit in, appears willing to go to any lengths for the approval of an American boy, while criticizing Hindu culture and India itself, creating a narrative clearly shaped by bias.
Mahesh’s statement that India’s economy runs on scams is outdated, sounding as if it’s straight out of the early 2000s.
In essence, it’s a series created by ABIs who appear disconnected from the rich culture, history, and current realities of India.
