I think it glorifies white male priviledge and that it also glorified the typical story line of a man having the most misunderstood problems. He’s psychotic and beyond selfish and yet is somehow portrayed as part heroic. I do think the show captures him as the creep he is but I think that the writing could further portray who is in real world lighting- a whiney selfish mysoginist. They do show him as human with how much he cares about kids but he is beyond a text book stalker case and serial killer. I find him disgusting. That’s why I keep watching, I’m constantly criticizing how creepy he is as well as how much his character is being glorified.
I am surprised to read everyone else’s reviews though who clearly do not care about what this show gives permission to in society. I am constantly disgusted with how much he gets away with. Is anybody else realizing how psycho he is? He took control of Beck’s life. I couldn’t understand why he was so into her. So cringey. This is a bad show for hopeless romantics as well as a bad show for portraying social media in real world terms. If you want to see good pictures of social media portrayal I would stick to black mirror. This show is so bizarre I how it glorifies Joe. He is a text book creep. His exes end up dead. That story line is better with a female lead. Of course when it’s a man it’s seen as a commentary on society and not a clear acceptance of male psychotic behavior.
