We highly recommend this book by author Danny Caine of The Raven Bookstore - it's a quick and very informative read!

In our opinion, the best young adult "chapter" book to deal with the 1930s-era Dust Bowl migration during the Great Depression from the point of view of Robin, a girl who loves to read. There is adventure, intrigue, and a few surprises in this tale of tolerance and coming of age set in central California. A great way to introduce kids to historical themes surrounding the Great Depression. Great story and holds up as an easy adult read, too!

Fantastic and visionary guide to the legendary Fort Ord - a former Army base in Marina CA - now occupied by CSUMB. Through historic photos and original artworks, the author explores the many aspects of this magical place. A must read and a treasure to keep.
