What’s wrong with America—a snapshot. The film is to my chagrin, replete with Anti American, racist, divisive, chip on shoulder ladened recent Latin immigrants wallowing in self pity, yet quick to use American universities, hospitals, schools, businesses, streets, affordable housing, welfare, ebt, etc., refusing to assimilate, forgetting who built, who defended this nation for their freedom, who gave them the greatest opportunity in the world: to be an American citizen. It is disgusting and hopelessly racist. I cannot imagine if a European American made this film and talked about us being glad because we aren’t “one of them,” as they glibly quip. The film celebrates illegal immigration and ethnic tribalism, decrying anyone who wouldn’t approve of such. It surfaces the age old question: if things were so wonderful in your former land, why did you move to the USA? We are instead invited to sympathize with a “Latina” who got into Stanford (a school built by European Americans) who can’t attend due to financial concerns. There is some great songwriting in the film coupled with some astounding vocal arrangements. What a shame it couldn’t have been a film bringing the country together in these difficult times. Another triumph for the left, chipping away at what is left of our republic.
