I am trying to get the word out there that this movie is being lambasted for no reason. My sister and I have both seen the Broadway show and a couple of amateur productions of CATS. Sure, the movie changed a few songs and added a character but if you loved the musical, you will still love it after seeing the movie. James Corden is wonderful as Mr. Bustopher Jones. The role was custom made for him. Rebel Wilson is not well known in the states but is extremely popular in the UK. She is an outrageous, raunchy comedienne and, yes, maybe the cockroaches were a bit over even her top. Judi Dench moved slow like the old old cat she was portraying and her raspy voice suited her portrayal. The dancers were terrific and, yes, Jennifer Hudson did make me cry. It is a magical cat universe and I can only think that the nasty reviews this film has received have been written by the all too prevalent cat haters out there and/or people who did not know that the musical is based on poetry about cats' personalities, not a screen play with a story/dialogue. It is a musical, people, and a very good one. Go see it for yourself, but only if you liked the original.
