I am not just a movie viewer I am a filmmaker. This movie to me to places I did not want to go. There were times I could have cried. I experienced pain, joy and amazement. The hell with a movie critic and what the hell anyone can tell you. This movie was about as good of a story that can be told. Jennifer Hudson was great!!!! If I have a problem with this movie I would say it was just too hard on me. To live Dr. Martin Luther King getting killed and Angela Davis getting arrested and seeing Aretha Franklin struggles was painful to watch. While end the movie when she song "Natural Woman" I said "end the movie here." The director took me through all of her struggles. I am a grown man and I have no business almost crying in a movie. That is a lot to take. I wake up still hurting learning about her struggles.

This movie was fantastic!!! I am a filmmaker myself and the director and casting was great. I hate any movie that "Glorify Black Drug Dealers" however this movie was a subtle revolutionary Black Pride movie whereas a story was told projecting African Americans in many positive ways. The acting and directing got my attention in that they introduced a Black Pride. In the Godfather the Mafia while they are gangsters they are Glorified. This movie presents "equality" in that Black people are Glorified. The casting and acting was Black culture presented great!!! I loved the movie and the directing. The end of the movie blew me away because as in most movies "The Black Guy Always Lose." In this ending the Black gets to win for a change!!!
