America is the ship whose lighthouse is unattended during the storm, while the two watchmen are preoccupied with fighting. The two watchmen symbolize the congressional struggle for political power in the United States, complicated by individual men's souls, Jungian psyches or Freudian egos. Of course Freud said his analysis didn't apply to the Irish, so Jungian psychology is more relevant. Pardon me, but lately I view every film as being political or about fascism.
