Ahahahaha. One star may not be fair as I did actually watch it all. It’s really just a bizarre collection of efforts. ‘Seems’ like they were trying to make a ‘legitimate’ scientific dramatization, but ….jeez. The story relies on a deep space exploration of the universe’s radio waves to discover what is later assumed to be a friendly out of this world spacecraft hovering in low earth orbit…transmitting an archaic signal back to earth to see if anyone is listening? Seems a bit like hiding on your friends front porch in the dark, after traveling a long way to get there, and instead of just ringing the doorbell, you put a letter in her mailbox and just hoping she may check it and discover you in the porch!??? Something like that. Probably a weak analogy, but no weaker than the story of this movie. Add in with this some really unnecessary human drama among the scientists pulling an all nighter. Ridiculous platitudes about scientific dreams, dreams lost, and the noble pursuit of yada ya da yada, then sprinkle in just a little bit of silly “action” , and you end up with Cosmos: A very strange soup of ingredients, just tossed together in a pot by some novice but ambitious cook. And yet still…. I watched it!!??? The characters/actors are likable enough, and do reasonably well with a really bad story. So there ya go. A second rate, elementary review of a second rate, oddly interesting movie. Enjoy (!?🤪)
