We recently visited the show and were a part of the customer audience. We were from out of town. I read about what to do for the costumes for the show as we had no room in our luggage for our 10 day trip to California for a costume. You get a ticket to the show for a certain time, then wait in line. Then they make you sign a huge waiver form, go through security and check for your license. If you don't have your license you can't win anything. Then they put you with a group of about 20 people and ask you what is your name, what do you do, one thing you like to do and why you like let's make a deal. THAT IS WHERE THEY CHOOSE WHO WILL BE ON !!! We had no costume on at this point whereas most people from California had one on already. So....disadvantage #1. Then we went in where we rented our costumes from them. They take your picture mostly to sell it to you because they make you turn in your cell phones to them. Then you wait until everyone is processed as such. They put you on a bus and take you to the studio which is really nice. Then they tell you to be very lively especially on commercial breaks and that they notice if you are having fun and moving around etc that they may change their mind and choose you as a contestant. HUGE LIE. By the time we were done I was exhausted from trying so hard to be lively and dancing to be chosen. They seem to only pick military (I get it, I respect them too) and drug/alcohol counselors and certain types of careers. We had NO CHANCE to be a contestant. We were there from 10 am to 4:30 pm. While it was an interesting experience once. I would never recommend anyone do it. By the way...it is a Black woman producer that has the most say in who is chosen as contestants. I did not see any prejudice at all. Wayne also did not talk to any of us except the contestants and took off between each commercial break. Very unfriendly.
