Renee hit this role out of the park, becoming in every sense the fragile songstress with the powerful voice and collapsing life. Her portrayal of Garland’s tenuous grip on reality together with her addiction to audience approval and overwhelming sense of low self esteem was touchingly on point. She was tender and tough, delicate and made of steel ~ the dichotomies perfectly evidenced in a nuanced and magical performance.
