I love a good show that doesn't coddle it's audience. Then again, I'm not sure that the finale was as flawless as I would have liked (spoilers ahead). But perhaps that's the point. As someone who prizes free will above all else, the idea that our choices are predetermined is the real Hell, and to imagine living in an identical simulated reality, presumably one bound by these same laws, all whilst fully knowledgeable of these facts, somehow feels like a lower level of Dante's tour of the underworld. The next step would be revealing that the devs team within the simulation also has built a simulation, thus introducing a real matroska of problems. If this is possible, could it also be possible that our base reality is also a simulation? Down the rabbit hole we go. I love anything that asks us to think deeply like this. Well done.
