To anyone wondering if they should/ need to watch Dr. Romantic 1 before starting the second season, YES!! The story of this season kinda carries on after the happenings of the first season and although there are new male and female leads who the story revolves are a lot, the most intriguing storyline is still of Kim Sabu and Doldam Hospital, you need the watch the first season to build the love you do for all the characters and the hospital. Season 1 was really dynamic with various different types of cases, the leads always being the emergency room and saving so many people with the guidance of Kim Sabu, the second season didn't really have that same amount of intensity in the ER I think which I'm not objecting to at all.
I think this season focused a lot on Kim Sabu being a teacher than an amazingly talented and experienced surgeon because I think he taught both the new leads a lot about life and how to be good people and live to your full potential and I think it was a really smart move to show a different side of him and made sense because he hurt his hand by the end of the last season. The story of the two leads was very different from the story of those from season 1. Ahn HyoSeop's character was really interesting and you just wanted to keep seeing more of him. I LOVED his interactions and the chemistry he built with Kim Sabu and I loved how Kim Sabu saw the amount of potential in him and made him part of the Oddball Project and just the way they reveal what that was was just so amazing to watch as a viewer. I kinda hoped more from Cha Eun Jae's character, especially because of the fact that Seo Woo Jin's character got so close to Kim Sabu. I feel like her character wasn't as emotionally connected to Sabu and the hospital especially after watching how much care the female lead from the first season, Yun Seo Jeong, had with Doldam and Sabu and just everyone. I get the writers had to show differences between the two female leads from the two seasons but I just wish they showed more of Cha Eun Jae with Sabu and her to be a part in finding Sabu's illness too.
I was so happy that Kim minjae's Park Eun tak got more screentime because he's an amazing actor and I WAS SO HAPPY THAT HE HAD A LOVE INTEREST. They both made such a cute couple I couldn't stop being all smiley whenever they had a scene. Kinda found them cuter than the main couple. Maybe it's just me because I loved Lee Sung Kyung with Nam Joon Hyuk but I just feel like she couldn't create as much chemistry with Ahn Hyoseop. Both their characters were cute together no doubt but I feel like Ahn Hyseop did a better job creating levels in his acting while Cha Eun Jae's character was a little stiffer especially during that final kiss scene in the staff room. It kinda made me think that Cha Eun Jae isn't really needed in the next season WHICH I HOPE HAPPENS. I was so happy to see Dr. Do in beom!!! You could see how much his character has evolved just by the way he was so openly caring for Kim Sabu. I love the back and forth between Seo Woo Jin and Do In Beom, the surgery they did together just made me want to see their characters and the rest of the old and new cast together in season 3 EVEN MORE as if that was possible. Basically, I need a season 3, with the way things ended I see so much potential with what could happen in their future!! The new seasons leads (no sure about Cha Eun Jae by the way things seemed by the end) + the old cast and Kim Sabu!! I need to see Seo Woo Jin's character working with Kang Dong Jo and ideally Cha Eun Jae with Yun Seo Jeong + In beom + main ER staff + Kim Sabu in the ER = EPIC season 3!!!!
