The was entirely unnecessary. The original Suicide Squad movie was good and this version the of the Suicide Squad took some ideas from the original and flushed it down the toilet. The actions scenes in this new version didn’t fully grab my attention or wow me at all. Harley Quinn had really good scenes but it felt watered down with the animated flowers and cartoon birds flying around. The shark was cute and enjoyable overall. It was annoying to have so many characters that didn’t have any powers though. I was hoping there would have been new characters with interesting powers to see. Almost the entire main cast had no powers and they had to rely on man made items. This alone made the movie extremely boring. They had two Villains with the exact same story and skills, then there’s Flag who also basically has similar skills, then Harley Quinn who is just as good with handling any weapon, and lastly Rat Catcher who doesn’t have any fighting skills and can only command rats with her tool. The only two characters that had abilities were the polka dat man and the shark. Polka dot guys powers were actually pretty cool but his thing with his mother killed him all together. The fact that they reused the storyline from the original movie with a villain having a daughter and him joining the squad to protect their child and give them better lives was like deja vu at first then just irritating to see it be redone. Throughout the entire movie it felt like the serious action and comedy we’re fighting each other at times, it just didn’t feel like it was meshing well at all. I was so excited to see it and left dissatisfied…my dad actually kept falling asleep though out the movie. I did like that they killed off many of the characters which made it feel like the stakes were raised. Overall the movie had me sitting there bored besides when Harley Quinn came into the scene, Waller got knocked out leaving the team to help the villains, and when the Starfish monster got taken down completely. The original vs the new though, the original wins hands down.
