I enjoy the many different approaches that are shown in each episode. While some of the homes don't fit with my style, I can usually find a number of ideas or techniques that spark my interest. I find that the narration is often stilted, with pauses in the middle of sentences in such a way that messes with the clarity of the thoughts being expressed. This seems to be only a problem with the descriptive commentary as the presenter doesn't suffer the same issues in general conversation. Please, please get rid of the inappropriate mid sentence (mid idea) pauses, they detract from the overall story being told.
I notice that there have been concerns raised that some of the episodes exhibit projects for very wealthy owners. The program is called Grand Designs, so I think we should expect there to be a lot of expensive buildings; there are also some projects with exceedingly low budgets, sometimes the ideas are very revealing in how to achieve a great result with a lack of money.
The flow of each episode has become somewhat predictable. We start with the "grand" idea. Then we have the prediction of disaster that gets dropped in a number of times. The problems / delays get their spot, but the end result is almost universally and exposition of what wonderful architecture has been achieved.
Regardless, I will continue to watch the show as the ideas from the owners as they look to build a home that suits their unique style and situation.
