As a true Matrix fan this was disappointing. The characters were underdeveloped, too much in one movie, Morpheus’s personality was altered to be flamboyant and “funny”, and instead of exploring reality at a tech meets spiritual level… it boiled down to another love story. No deep side story to even use as a crutch. The fights scenes were decent though. For that, 2 stars.

You may need to question the true reasons for why anyone doesn’t like the film. It is literally a feel good uplifting family story that addresses having integrity, morals, and facing fears in a relatable way. There is something for everyone to laugh, love, and learn about in the film. The children actors are OUTSTANDING and I am literally floored by their performance. Well done. The father does deal with not wanting his girls to have to be lessened by their race and maybe that was a turn-off for people who hate any race references… but its Serena and Venus - how do you escape that? Also, Will does a decent job with the acting but as usual falls short when trying to do an accent. I am giving it 4/5 because it doesn’t address that he also trained his daughters to deal with hecklers, and that they moved to Compton to get tougher skin and be able to handle pressure.

I have never seen anything this amazing and well thought out on television before. It is at a level Game of Thrones thrives to be. It combines Asimov, divination, sci-fi… all into one. Astrology, Science, and Religion as one, as above so below. So many breadcrumbs and Easter eggs. Is it a copy of the Asimov books, no, but I encourage you to relax and enjoy a really amazing show. Get lost in the Empiror’s world.
