I only recently dipped into Primal, but it was so captivating that I’m caught up and watching new episodes on release. The art direction and sound design/score hit just right. This show is intense and lives up to it’s title. Season two has exceeded my expectations thus far and I’m excited if a bit nervous in anticipation of where this story is headed. Much respect and appreciation for Tartakovsky, Wills, and everyone working on Primal.

Given Dreamwork’s history on sequels to their more comedic films, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy A New Age as much as if not more than the original. Although the universe of these films isn’t designed to accurately represent the Pliocene, there are some clever jokes inherent to the plot about the relationship between Neanderthal and Homosapien early peoples. My main issue with the movie is how busy a lot of it is and how forced the pacing feels at times, especially towards the beginning, but over all, I’m a big fan. 4/5 check it out.

Nice to see Pixar continue to explore themes of internal wellness. Much like Inside Out, Soul does a great job of personifying existential concepts in ways that are thought provoking and artistically mesmerizing. Perhaps drawing from Coco, the film also goes out of it’s way to realistically capture the gestures and instrumentation of characters performing music.
