The problem of most of serials is that after a peak, they just drag it for no reasons. It loses its importance and we as audience gets bored (unless it's historical). Therefore, it's good to complete a serial within 52- 53 weeks. Fir example, Zindagi TV serial used to be sweet and short. It should be like that.
