K. Burrell

Although it may seem far-fetched at first glance (well, every glance, really), The Core is a fantastic movie. The scientific inaccuracies, while rampant, do not draw away from the storyline. This movie is sound so long as the science within it is accepted as the reality for the imagined scenario. It is not plausible in real life, but that should not bar it from being considered a good movie. If one looks at it from a fantasy perspective rather than a realistic one, one will find that the plot is thrilling and often gut-wrenching, the characters are believable and well-developed (though not always likable), and the effects are far ahead of their time.
