Maybe this is controversial... but I defiantly think this show was better than "The Witcher." It handled certain timeline elements (mostly involved in the first episode) better overall.
Honestly I was invested enough from the beginning that I knew I would at least finish the season but from what I've seen it takes some people a while to get into the story. Some are set from the beginning... others after the first two episodes... and for others it took them tell episode six... but after THAT FANALE I can tell you this show is totally worth a chance.
The actors were SO GOOD in their roles... especially Kit Young who plays Jesper. And they've gotten a lot of new talent which can be hit or miss with me... needless to say they totally hit a gold mine this time.
"The Crows," which have been largely missing from major marketing were defiantly my favorite part of the show. They all have great chemistry with one another and their plot line was by far the most interesting... especially the more they get involved with "The Fold."
I have two issues with the show:
1) Some characters (especially the ones from the main plotline) were too tropeie for my tastes.
2) Some characters and events could have benefited from some more breathing room... like I think we should have gotten more training for Alina and this character Alina meets (Genya I believe) needed more emotional buildup for some things that happened at the end of the show to have any real emotional impact. General Kiergan is another example of this issue... I just really couldn't wrap my head around Alina's trust in him.
But because I think this show deserves more viewers I think I'll leave it at five stars... because those issues weren't really detrimental to the show.
