The movie itself was well directed. However, it makes a lot of assumptions about Diana that are incredibly unkind. Kristen Stewart's acting is awkward at times(when she is asking for directions in the beginning of the film and also when she is portraying anger at the pool table to name a few) and she recycles the same facial expressions/ mannerisms that she used for other films(notably the Twilight series). Even when Diana was sad, she still possessed strength and a sense of life within her. To me, she never seemed 'defeated' like the film made her out to be.

Although the character Frank did annoy me at times, the book was a great depiction of what it is like to live in the U.S. with Korean heritage. Definitely addressed taboo topics that needed to be addressed. Also, someone in the comment said it didn't make sense how Frank's Korean parents wanted him to only date Koreans- it actually is pretty common in Korean culture and a lot of Korean parents, especially first generation, still hold this view.
