I won't lie, I had fingers and toes crossed to hear the original or at least a rearranged theme of Eye Level and was gutted that it didn't come! My attention was grabbed by the opening scenes. A chase on foot was perfect for the beginning and I liked the immediate scenery one tends to conjure up of Amsterdam. But this was followed by quite an uninspiring and anaemic theme tune where I noted merely a short motif out of Eye Level played on the piano. I liked the characters, particularly Job for his quirkiness. The detectives felt like a well established family. I'll be watching the future episodes recorded so I can fast forward through the ads,I genuinely find adverts incredibly disruptive and annoying during a reasonably long drama. I will recommend the programme based on what I saw, there's clearly lot to learn about the off-duty Van der Valk .....but oh to have had Eye Level......
