Lump in my throat from the first scene. Very dark, in parts hard to watch. I even considered walking out at one point, but I was hooked on the fantastic acting, use of scenery, and the story and message. I wanted to class it as Modern American Tragedy, or something else, but could not define it. I really appreciate how it ties in with the other Jokers, from the 60s on. The depth and acting and scenery-- the symbolism behind his medications and then how he climbs stairs, and those same stairs later in the movie--many other symbols--and the great musical and ominous soundtrack- make the movie a whole experience. I felt this was movie art at a very high level.
