“I have never been anyone’s first choice”, and the back story just made me love, admire, and respect Colin so so much more. Colin’s life experiences explains why he could not be broken by the NFL. Even thou his parents meant well they could not break through or understand the cultural differences, how his feelings where impacted, or the need Colin felt to be apart of his blackness. Baseball was a very bitter pill, from the ride to the game in the cold car, listening to music he did not like to the discrimination of hotel staff not even wanting him to have ice cream, cookies, or even an apple. It is a must see for every person inspiring to play sports.
