I really wanted to like this more than I did. I think Tom Surridge could have mad this amazing, but his character was never allowed to develop - which is weird as he's the main character. The show felt like it couldn't decide whether each episode was its own story, or whether there should be an underlying storylines. The very loose storylines did not build to anything and fizzled out before they started. Morpheus being captured, having to find his items, John, Corinthian, Rose. It's a real shame as it really felt like it had potential. It was interesting enough - it kept us watching, but didn't really develop in to anything.

Edit: ok, fine. The day after this review (see below) it was eating at me that I couldn't do it and that I gave up. We're now determined to finish the game. It's all about learning routine. It's incredibly difficult, but it just tips the point of determination. It's all about you getting past your frustration to carry on. For that, it's 5 stars. I love the music and the artwork, it takes me back to watching super old VHS's as a child - very notalgic.... but.... this is a tad too difficult for me. After 3 hours game play we have only beaten two levels. I can't bear to repeat the levels any more, it's just frustrating and soul destroying. I'm not sure I'll be dashing to play it again. Also not keen on it mainly being a "fight" game. Thought there would be more actual levels to it. Wanted to love it, but I don't. 3 stars for the artwork and nostalgia

I loved the original ff7 game, it was a huge part of my childhood. I've always wanted it to be remade, so I was super excited when I heard that it was in process. I love what they've done with the characters, and I'll love the game no matter what, BUT: * I'm 8 hours in and the gameplay feels very "linear". The original allowed you to make the game your own, whereas I'm being told where to go and when. No possibility to go level up anywhere or do things in a different order. I feel like I'm at exactly the same place as everyone else playing it. * Maps are very rigid. No option to explore or interact very much. It's very much "Here's a path, stay on it". * Details feel unfinished. Some doors look odd, mouths move weirdly and I've seen Tifa "scoot" across the floor instead of walk. * Movements are rigid! Cloud walks. So. Slowly. Sometimes I just want to get on and go, and I can't. * Triangle commands are really slow to be acknowledged. Sometimes it feels like "filler" to make it seem like you're playing when they're just getting you to run around. We'll see if it improves. Disappointed to hear how long it might take for the next chapter. I'm going to be well in my 40s before this game is finished (I'm 31).
