I think this is the finest work of Srijit Mukherji till date. I don't really like the people who don't get the point of this film. This movie wasn't about a thrilling tension throughout as in Chotushkone or an eye-popping suspense as in Baishe Shrabon, it was about ironies of our life, about the portrayal of glorious Kolkata culture decaying under westernization. It's a film where you keep your brain shut for 2 and half hours and just feel with your heart. In stead of so many heart-breaking scenes in the movie, the most overwhelming one was I think the 1 minute long end sequence of "modern, westernized" Kolkata as you then imagine the scene of red-lettered Shah Jahan Regency on the joining day of Parambrata and the hotel's glorious heritage now burried inside. The most important thing in the movie was the character development and I think Srijit did a phenomenal job in that.
