Some good atmosphere, some impactful ghost moments, very good framing and lighting, but the plot was painfully predictable. And some of the props and make up were straight up camp and felt very out of place (I'm looking at you, final scene of the movie).
The wooden man was a very cool concept, but I think the sculpt would have been more impactful if he was less ghoulish looking and we definitely didn't ever need to see him actually move. That scene would have been much more effective if he was just suddenly in different parts of the house, still and wooden every time the character looked back.
It is worth a watch and it definitely has a vibe, I just don't think it was the masterpiece a lot of people are saying it is. Having said that I am looking forward to following the careers of those involved. This one is a showcase of potential.
