This book was astounding, life-changing. It gave me a significant reorientation regarding marriage, dating, courtship, and romance. I even enjoyed it more while reading due to the anecdotal evidence sprucing the principles the author so convincingly, authoritatively, and lovingly presents. This is the perfect place to start for anyone preparing to delve into either of those aspects of life. The most exciting thing and what makes the book special is that it does not just contain theoretical advice, actually, it is exactly the opposite, word-based scrutiny of individual activities, experiences, motivation, and behaviors- and that makes all the differences. Frankly, it is one of the books I will live to remember,
1: For its deep life-changing perspective.
2: Fun- Joshua Harris, thank you for such a gift... it was fun and engaging, I literary devoured every page anticipating what to find next, as I scrutinize my life to see where I need to apply what I learnt.
First comes the proper diagnosis of my heart, and I didn't need to say a word, I could see it all-like a deep peeping into my heart, and as guilt and condemnation started kicking in, Joshua Harris points the audience, me including to the cross.
It was a timely read.
Here is my takeaway:
“I believe that getting our romantic relationships right as Christians means seeing God's glory as the ultimate purpose of any relationship.” Page 33
I would encourage everyone to read this book before they start dating, courting, or even marrying, if someone is somewhere in already, still applies. It's one of the few books among the few thousands I have read that will forever remain impactful, re-orienting, and life-giving.
