We are reading it right now, we are 1/2 way through. It’s AR rated (accelerated reading) for school reading as a book level 3 which it 3rd grade but I think it’s way more advanced. It was recommended by my daughter’s 6th grade teacher. I think that every cop in America should read this book and be required to go to a primality black school and take an AR quiz on this book before going out on the beat. that would serve two fold, they would get a perspective of the fear that black parents experience daily and also immerse them into the community. I hope someone who is a decision maker for police training session this post. As far as my rating, it’s a 10 out it 10! It also teaches kids some history about civil rights, Emmett Till and activists like MLK and Rosa Parks and evening mentions the kkk. Kids need to learn this and it’s a perfect introduction. Very well narrated and good vocab. Perfect for all, especially for middle schoolers and cops. 👮
