Very muted and very dark but raises a lot of questions about not only the entertainment business but about career life in general. The everlasting ambition of young people to do anything to get there. The ethical considerations they need to overlook is just devastating. The image of power, represented in the ever-present, but ever-absent media mogul, is juxtaposed with the powerless few; those who work in his shadow and have to overlook all the transgressions. Does that make them part of the corruption?
There is also this hidden theme of sexual harassment, but we are never sure if it is really harassment or whether the women are just doing whatever it takes to take what they want, similar to the male assistants in the office? I find this a thought-provoking movie in a very subtle way.
