A cautionary tale that shows exactly why you don't just willy nilly and vindictively fire and remove your highly trained top generals and call something a dei hire and too woke for the millitary. Guess what. You need experience and grit under unimaginable pressure and un-reliable info. This is why you don't put alcaholic fox anchors in charge of your powerful millitary. You will find out the hard way that vindicism won't save you and that you are now frighteningly and dangerously out of your depth. The president needs to be able to read and stay rational under pressure all while the rest of the world is watching and also highly strung. I gave extra 2 stars because they referred to it as DOD and not DOW.

I was not expecting what I watched. Of course, like most people, I remember the cartoonish movie and golden books sanitised, child friendly version of Pinocchio. When I finished watching, I was blown away by the difference in story, yet with some resemblance here and there. So I did some research. This version, as dark as it is, with reference to Mussolini's fascism, and the Roman salute, war etc, is reflective of the era Pinocchio was originally written. People expected this to be a rehash of their cartoon memories of this classic tale. It's anything but. Not even written for children. Both this version, and the original newspaper story Pinocchio was written in by author and columnist Carlo Collodi, was in fact written originally to scare children. This version is closer to the original dark tale.

First time I watched this I was shocked. Second time, I LMAO. 3rd and 4th times I could recite the script. Some CLASSIC scenes, especially the karaoke. Just some escapist, dirty, disgusting, hilarious fun. Too Funny! De Niro...SMGDH lol

I have to admit I cheated and listened in English, but I loved the mystery, the plot twists and the characters.

Watched it as a young teen before the R version was available, so we missed the graphic scenes. I remember borrowing it from a video store in the 90's and the store guy felt sorry for me for watching what he said was a embarrassing movie he didn't even charge me for it. Now looking at it through adult eyes, the directors cut with all scenes intact, it's an emotional rollercoaster, very raw, quite ugly which contrasts the catchy disco music. However, it's REAL. The horrible slurs, while they're not easy to listen to, this captured exactly what it WAS like. context is everything. To the prissys saying it's too violent and glorified rape. It didn't. If someone watches an R rated movie then EXPECT something to go down that will rock your narrow, privileged, suburban world view. The PG version didn't show this scene, so heed the rating... it exists for a reason. The R version was banned in Australia when it first came out. Good thing the censorship is easily bypassed these days.
