If you have seen the original Alfred Hitchcock version, then this so-called modern claimed 'adaptation' taken from the the 'Master of Horror's creative genius; really doesn't work if you are expecting a similar calibre of directing and producing. Whilst it is difficult to criticise Lily James acting it is not that particulary difficult to find flaws with her on screen counterpart and leading man. Is the movie worth watching in it's current format? mmmmmm... then I would say, I will leave that judgement up to the individual. Armie Hammer who plays 'Maxim DeWinter' is far too young for the role, and this is why, in my view, the 2020 film version is one of the main reasons it doesn't cut the mustard. The movie lacks the Hitchcock stamp and spooky atmosphere, but having said that, there are indeed nevertheless numerous endearments and compliments that I would afford and award.
