This film is tolerable at first, but the more I questioned the film, the more I ended up liking it. There are some good songs, but there are also some that felt like filler. I learned that some of the songs were reworked from prior failed projects and I think they would have sounded better within their original context. However, the idea of idolizing regular people as celebrities on mediums like TV was unique for its time and is more relevant now than it was back then.
Bottom line, if you're expecting a Rocky Horror sequel, this isn't the movie for you. However, if you give it a chance, you'll watch an weird yet enjoyable flick with some catchy songs that tries to follow in its predecessor's footsteps.
Also, if you want to watch another musical with Jessica Harper, watch Phantom of the Paradise.
