Simply beautiful. A painful, and perfectly portrayed look at how grief can suffocate us, making it hard to get through each day, but also make each day resonate more deeply because of the pain. A look at how simple it is to be happy, and how very difficult and unattainable it also is. Falconer's speech to his class captures it all- the fear the we are alone, and useless, and that no one cares what we have to say. Colin Firth is amazing, his minimalist acting is a perfect 'stiff upper lip' British man, like an older Mr. Darcy, who lost the love of his life. Julienne Moore is fantastic, all cheer and self pity and artifice. Her exaggerated makeup echoes her face veneer of confidence and joyfulness, bit really she is a wreck, even worse than Firth. Nicholas Hault is surprisingly mature and had great gravitas for such a young actor. The ending leaves you with a cathartic cry,or close to one.
