The movie indeed is a tribute to the heroes who helped contain Nipah in Kerala. The director's and scriptwriters' craft in taking care not to give over importance to anyone all the while giving due importance to each character is commendable.
The director and producer duo who is always vocal about their left-leaning politics have never even once tried to glorify the role of the health minister or the communist govt. In fact, personally, I felt like the role of our health minister K K Shailaja is actually underrepresented in the movie. As a person who has watched all of the minister's press conferences and interviews at the time of Nipah, the depiction of Shailaja teacher was the only negative I felt. And not depicting the CM or taking it from the political angle is the biggest positive I have seen in the movie.
When it is about Nipah, sister Lini and Shailaja teacher might be the heroes everybody knows about. But the movie reiterates the fact that every single person, right from the govt officials to the doctors, nurses, cleaning staff, corporation workers, the people, everyone are heroes and this movie is a tribute to all those unsung heroes.
Their teamwork is depicted beautifully in the movie and the fact that the second attack of Nipah is swiftly contained is the biggest proof of the success of this teamwork.
The fictional part of the movie is carefully crafted to merge seamlessly with the real incidents and provide insights into the state of mind of the people very accurately.
There are some stellar performances as well along with awesome background score.
In short, its a must watch movie.
