Steven Universe is a really good show for people of all ages, race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. This is the first cartoon show, aimed at kids, that was very inclusive of all people of all kinds. Amethyst is strong and for me, a really great body positive/inclusive character. Garnet is quite literally a fusion of two femme/lesbian-presenting characters, as well as it being hinted but not directly stated that Pearl was in love with Pink Diamond, another femme/woman-presenting character. Steven Universe is a really really great show, and Steven Universe: Future comes out tomorrow, Friday, December 7th, at 8PM EST.

The Hate U Give, both the movie and the book by Angie Thomas, was absolutely amazing. Amandla Stenberg, the actress who portrays Starr Carter, was asked in an interview what the goal of The Hate U Give was, and she answered amazingly: "To make white people cry". That goal was obviously accomplished as I was sobbing in the movie theater and on the way home, I was frantically googling protests and ways I could help to stand against this type of injustice. Regardless of race, age, occupation, etc. I believe everyone should read the book and/or watch the movie. It really helps educate the reader on the perspective of people of color on the issue of oppression, racism, and of course, police brutality.
