6 or so hours in. Fantastic game so far in my opinion, not everyone’s cup of tea, this one takes its time to flesh stuff out and do it slow, and (hopefully) tell a great story, giving a great feeling of loneliness, while also making you feel connected with others who aren’t there, as I’m sure you’ve heard from others. If the gameplay doesn’t change much from this point, I can see it getting A bit boring and repetitive, but this game is really one that’s going off it’s narrative, which I’m heavily intrigued in. A big problem that really really broke the immersion for me was blatant ad placements, with the 6 hours in its only been 2 so far, but they’re such big sore thumbs that it was hard to get past it for a minute. I’m currently sitting at a 9/10 for this game, it gives a new take onto things which as I said, isn’t for everyone, but I do think people should play this for the experience. if you’re someone who enjoys a good story and exploring every bit of lore, the little problems that most reviewers had arent that noticeable, like the long beginning, and you should really enjoy soaking up all the info everyone in the game can offer.
Update: I’d say I’m about 18-20 hours in now and they’re right when they say the first 10 hours can be slow cause the story is really starting to pick up and I’m enjoying it a lot. The more I think about I though, I only really felt like I understood the mechanics to their fullest at around 10 hours so it isn’t that bad in that regard. Gameplay has picked up significantly too, I find it calming and fun choosing the routes and optimizing what to bring, ive been caught in a couple situations where I just needed one or more of a weapon or item and I just chose it over something else, which really makes me decide what to bring the next time around and I like that. Problem with gameplay is no feeling of significant threat, with the right vehicles and upgrades you can pretty much out run anything even on the hardest difficulty, especially with the BT’s, when I learned I could just run away pretty easy, they really lost a lot of their initial scare. Another thing that kind of made me happy was the removal of monster and other ads in later areas, doesn’t feel as shoved in your face as before. I still stick to a 9/10 in my books, the game has been cut time wise due to other players building and helping of each other, which is a really nice touch to the game.
