Thiruvalluvar’s Thirukkural is called the masterpiece of both Indian and world literature on human ethics. It is praised for its universality, non-denominational nature and the greatness of Thirukkural is its survival even after two millennia.
The sayings of Thiruvalluvar alone is enough to edify the whole world. In India, Thirukkural is the one and only literature which is remarkable in the parliament, court, educational institution even in British India, police station, railway station, bus department, portrait of Thiruvalluvar on INR even in British India and so on for its ethical corpus of the world or universal appeal.
For an example, you cannot suggest a Hindu or Muslim to read the Bible or Gita. Likewise, you cannot suggest a Christian to read the Gita or Quran as it may create controversial issues countrywide. On the contrary, you can urge everyone in India to read Thirukural because it is free from caste, class, creed, deity and devotee, self importance, rejected beliefs, leader, nationality, languages, society and so on.
As a result, Thiruvalluvar’s Thirukkural is eligible to be the universal national book for all the countries including India because it is an ethical wisdom ever written or spoken in the world and it never failed to attract any scholar or philosopher in the past 2,000 years worldwide.
