Pros:
- Looks much cleaner and polished
- New DLC added an entirely new feature of designing homes for any number of villagers
- Added cooking, but… aside from doing the same thing as eating fruits does, it adds nothing new to the core game.
Cons:
- The emptiest, most soulless installment of the series. In sum, the devs put all their eggs in one basket, which was island designing. They focused so much on customization, they forgot to flesh out the core of what Animal Crossing was all about, which is the relationships and characters.
- All villager personalities act the same: too nice. Can’t tell ‘em apart, especially since their dialogue is so limited and not as versatile as before. Relationships and interactions with villagers doesn’t feel real or meaningful as before.
- So much from the base game is missing compared to New Leaf and other previous titles.
- Updates are disguised as “updates” but are really just features from the previous titles that should’ve been included from the start. These updates are just scapegoats, as the devs know they’re delaying actual features that were meant to be part of the base game. Examples include: swimming, deep sea creatures, Brewster and the Roost (which is useless compared to previous titles, will explain below), Cyrus refurbish service, other characters, etc.
- Can’t work at The Roost like you used to.
- The only mini game available is “High Card, Low Card”… That’s it. What happened to everything else? Dunno.
- Gets mundane and boring really fast. Just YouTube comparisons of New Horizons to the previous installments of the series. Will save me the trouble to list everything.
