For Christ's sake, I can't stand this incorrectness anymore. The fields they are walking through are poppy fields, not cherry fields. Hence why every November the English wear Red Poppy flowers on their lapels. It's in honor of Armistice day. And yes they would get out of the trenches and talk as they walked. It's not like every German position was within even 400 yards of the English and French. Some trenches were very close yes, but not all the time. I look forward to seeing the movie through historians eyes. Not some dude who has no clue what he is looking at.
