WARNING: YOU WILL BE UPSET BY THIS MOVIE IF YOU ACTUALLY HAVE ANY COMPASSION FOR TRANS LIVES. I felt compelled to post a review because the ending of this film is incredibly dangerous. I don't want to post any spoilers, but suffice to say that the character does something incredibly stupid and life threatening. Young trans people could interpret this ending as validating an incredibly stupid act - seeing such a dangerous act as a valid option for handling their dysphoria. While the acting and the movie itself was beautiful in a lot of ways (the actors were incredible), I was horrified at the way they handled the ending. Very disappointed that this director, who seems very talented (the film brings out incredible acting and emotions) would feel that it was appropriate to handle the ending in such a way. The character looks happy and contented after pulling a stunt that would have (if it happened in reality) ended or ruined her life! I feel like the director was just playing on the current fascination with trans lives to get attention for his movie.
