I absolutely love this show so much. It has such an authentic portrayal of teenagers, love and royalty. There’s a focus on a beautiful mlm relationship, which isn’t overly sexualised, that is so real in its struggles and arguments. Wilhelm, the main character, shows signs of anxiety throughout the show that is easily picked up on without explicitly being stated. Within the show is also autistic representation handled with respect, unlike some other media in recent times (I’m looking at you Sia). Rather than falling into harmful stereotypes, the show makes sure to develop its characters to the point of making you almost think they’re real people. To be honest when I first heard of the show I thought it would be another Elite or Gossip Girl, so I was hesitant getting into it, luckily it surprised me and decided to stray away from the extreme and unrealistic. While watching it reminded me of a show I loved previously, SKAM, a Norwegian show praised for its realistic portrayal of teenagers. It was a treat to watch and I hope it gets a second season because I need more.
