I truly appreciated the original Kantara—it beautifully reflected the spirit and folklore that we Kannadigas hold close to heart. In contrast, Kantara Chapter 1 was a letdown. My criticism isn’t rooted in any bias or disrespect toward any community; it stems from a genuine connection to the cultural authenticity of the earlier version. The disappointment lies in the film’s heavy borrowing from other cinematic works. Scenes like Rishab Shetty scaling rooftops felt reminiscent of Braveheart, and the war sequences—especially the fire-arrow shots—seemed lifted straight from Baahubali. While grandeur and stylization have their place, originality should never be sacrificed for spectacle. That said, the performances were commendable. The comedic moments were enjoyable, and Gulshan Devaiah deserves special praise—his portrayal was stellar and arguably a career-defining performance. However, the capture scene evoked imagery of Hanuman from the Ramayana, which, while symbolic, felt more derivative than inspired. I understand the intent to magnify the narrative, but doing so by echoing scenes from other films diluted its uniqueness. A story rooted in our soil deserves storytelling that’s just as original.

The storyline is not captivating and doesn't engage the audience. The only impressive part is the beginning of the movie, where the trucks are bombed. Except for a package, which contains Indian defence secrets, and guess what the intelligence is in the human brain of Sonakshi Sinha, which is injected by the use of a transmitter. Another lousy thought and gibberish. The Indian defence does not have a choice to tackle the problem with its current defence personnel, and chooses to get the work done, by two court-martialled personnel. Is the Indian defence so fragile? Rewinding when Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, take the oath of serving the country. Tiger Shroff is unshaven when taking the oath. It looked like he had to get into those clothes, to complete his shot. The title of the movie -Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was previously acted by Big B-Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda, which had good music. Unfortunately, the music of the current movie acted by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, could not match closely to the previous movie. Akshay Kumar did not do justice to the role done by Big B, nor did Tiger Shroff, who didn't look or sound like a defence personnel. The storyline is about Prithvi Sukumaran who tries to sell an idea to improve the defence system using AI to create clones of the 2 best officers, and the use of command prompts to ensure all orders are followed, and they can self-heal, which can be related to the Terminator movie, played by Arnold. Unfortunately, AI cannot be used for destruction. So stop fooling the audience by selling a vague concept. In continuation, the idea gets rejected, as it lacks human emotions. Since the idea was rejected, Prithvi decided to sell it out to neighbouring countries. However, in the later part, Prithvi uses it to cause damage to the neighbouring countries. It shows indecisiveness on the part of the directors of the movie. Energy Level of Akshay Kumar-The original Khiladi is too low. Akshay Kumar who is known for action and comedy timing, looked less energetic and off-beat. The use of the English language extensively by Prithivi Sukumaran does not serve the purpose in Hindi cinema and in comparison to other actors in the movie. The entire movie looked like a game and had nothing to do with reality. There is no chemistry between the male and female actors and actresses, except for a song after the movie is over. There is no chemistry or bonding between the 2 actors-Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. The female leads have no expressions, whatsoever. Cheap humour: 1.Sab kuch main hi batao G.I.Joe, Kabhi to biceps ki jagah brain use karo (self-explanatory on Tiger Shroff's role ) 2. Terrorism mein nepotism, that's unbelievable( Completely gibberish ) 3. Ego ko side mein rakho aaur rationally socho. Ego ko side mein rakha and rationally soca, nahi aa raha hai ( Heights ) 4.Tiger Shroff: Outstanding. Kaise kar lete ho Sir.Matlab last aane ke baad itna khush kaise reh sakte ho sir.Akshay Kumar: Beta humne bachpan se sikha hai, agar bacho ke sath khelo to unhe first aane do, warna wo ro padenge, aur waise bhi hero ki entry last mein hoti hain. Ladies first ( referred to Tiger Shroff ) For a 350 crore movie, the storyline and execution weren't that great, and it is not worthy to be watched in a theatre, and has been released in OTT.
