The writers have dumbed down characters, the plot, and situations. Mat Cauthon's character, for example. In the books, he was a lovable rogue. Life and hardship broke him, forcing him to rebuild himself and deal with some serious PTSD issues. In the show, he's a cookie-cutter, cliche thief with a good heart from a bad family character -- if the show had race cars, then Mat would be street racing them to solve crimes. Most of the other characters are also cliche, undermining Robert Jordan's literary opus. Also, Robert Jordan had a huge range of cultures and peoples in the WoT world, but the show has the tiny Two Rivers as a diversity-hire pot of confetti. So, I'd recommend giving this mess a miss, unless you like your characters as cliches, you don't mind exposition and plot jumps because of lazy writing, and you don't like to think too much about how cultures form and operate.
