Blunt exposition. You can feel the obvious beats and turns in this overstated, over written script. For an filmmaker with independent roots, she clings to a barefaced Hollywood narrative. And often the music cues are manipulative and over orchestrated... telling you how to feel before each scene. Did Harriet really have haunting, spiritual counsel from god that kept her and her fellow slaves safe? I give the real Tubman credit for her efforts. The only thing authentic about this film is the actual picture of Tubman. So disappointed
