Oh, how I loved this movie. I had watched it the year it came out and enjoyed it very much. I then found out it was a book and decided to read it. I just watched it again, though I still have a fourth of the book left. The book and the movie left me in tears. It left this feeling of wanting to be apart of something. To walk into the movie and squeeze the characters tight and hold them from the unfairness life has “awarded” them with. The characters were brought to life so well through Lily and Michiel and the rest of the cast. The chemistry between the two was almost palpable. Oh how my heart is broken but mended by the dialogue and scenery. Its not just a movie to watch, its one to be moved by. You can see the pain and the hope and happiness. You can feel the struggle of Juliet, Dawsey, Amelia, Eben, and Isola. You mourn the loss of what could have been. And its always amazing to see words come to life, and that’s exactly what happened here. These letters that they wrote to each other brought them alive when their souls had started to die. This is one for the ages.
