I don't write many film reviews but after watching Ghostbusters Afterlife and now seeing the "professional" critics reviews I feel like I need to make it known I enjoyed the film.
I am not a superfan but the original 2 Ghostbusters films are something I grew up with, this film satisfied that nostalgia and it did feel cloying at times hence why its got a star knocked off.
So yes there is some pandering to the fans but after the last Ghostbusters reboot I think they played it safe with afterlife.
There was some good character development and the story was told well, the plot isn't complex but then this is a film for family entertainment just like the originals.
It had some good action and thankfully it wasn't overburdened with lots of CGI action burning out your retinas.
All it all it was an entertaining film, it handed the torch over to the new generation without being too schmaltzy. It could have been brilliant but its not quite there so 4 stars.
