The movie's CGI is great, especially for Ghibli's first time using it. The plot is also good, if not confusing at times. The big problem is the lip syncing. In most anime, the animators simply animate the characters mouths opening and closing for them talking, as the actual voice is recorded later. This makes dubbing easy, as due to the animation not explicitly showing any pronunciation, whatever the voice actors need to say fits. However, due to this movie's more fluid mouth movements, the dialogue doesn't quite match up to the animation, and it generally feels off.
