SNL has always been understood satire that produces comic relief in a bipartisan fashion. Relating to contemporary politics possibly leaning left but generally bipartisan. Being able to laugh and overdramatize the issues in America affords all Americans the opportunity to debate major issues with a much lighter tone, which we can all use. With that being said, I am not thin-skinned and nor am I racist yet I find concerning the man opposite Colin on The Daily News comic briefing the race card is used far too often! As a white man I'm honestly sick of the lack of originality and the lazy joke writing that all too often uses race as the backdrop for the joke instead of something that actually takes skill and creativity. Let's be honest if we were writing jokes with the context and punchline always taking advantage black stereotypes we would surely be called racist and bigots. It's time for SNL to get back to the basics honestly get some better comedians / actors. This is one of the least talented groups aside from a few to be generous. I understand why you have to keep going to the well on the race jokes though. What the lack of talent in originality you have to work with what you have. I suggest the show recast and go back to the script with some real comic material before you lose more fans. As it is I tune in to see the political satire in the beginning as it's generally funny and actually reflects the current theme politics. After that the skits are hit-and-miss at best. And again it's actually offencive to me that white people are some sort of immune Target of jokes whereas it wouldn't be taboo to use other minorities. My question is to SNL soon once white people are the minority will the script be flipped and it would be now appropriate for the minority whites to make simple jokes about race because of our lack of creativity? It's a question for yourself.? when will it be taboo to use white people due to their newly aquired minority status??.. I suggest we be mindful of the situation..
